I just love the 4.2 personally. And bonus points for being less expensive.

I like to believe that the 4.2 V8 in my 15y/o Audi is the exact same engine.

It basically is right? Does yours sound anywhere near as good as an s or RS series 4.2?

I hear that! I’ll most likely end up with the V8.

I def wouldn’t hate a V8, but of I could afoord an R8, I’d still shell out for V10.

The thing is you can get a used V8 for the price of a mid-low-spec C7 Stingray. A used V10 will run you a well-optioned C7 Z06.

The thing is is that the V10 platform is prime for turbocharging and 4 digit hp figures (UGR, Heffner, etc.)

well yeah, because its not like anyone is going to call the 4.2l slow
at some point the difference between a 3 second 0-60 time and a 3.5 make no practical difference.
James May said it, nurburgring times dont matter

Precisely why I’d take a 4.2

I think this is a case of each trim being worth its price point. The V8 makes for an extremely civilized everyday supercar that won’t break the bank. Meanwhile, the V10 is more exotic, but the price jump is big enough that you couldn’t call it a no-brainer.
R8 GT for your time.

I guess, but I should also mention, those kits could cost more than the car itself, if buying used especially.
